Planning

WEL members work on all aspects of land use planning and the impacts this has on the natural and historic environment. We would like:

  • to see the benefits that green and blue infrastructure brings to the Welsh economy maximised by using the terrestrial and marine planning systems and national policies to identify, protect and create these assets
  • protected areas to be governed and managed in a way that protects and enhances their special qualities, including landscape, biodiversity and historic assets
  • local democracy to be supported by the introduction of a third party right of appeal into the development management process
  • sustainable place-based policy approaches to be the distinctive focus of a national “Landscape Vision for Wales”, and thereafter reflected in all Welsh Government spatial policies
