Letters to Presiding Officer & Counsel General on EU Transition

Publication date:

October, 2020

Wales Environment Link members have been consistently working with the Welsh Government on how to quickly and fulsomely fill the 'enviromental governance gap' that will arise as we leave the EU Transition Period at the end of 2020. We felt it necessary to highlight the impact of delays to Senedd business to the Presiding Officer, Elin Jones, in a letter. We also wrote to the Counsel General, Jeremy Miles, in his additional role of overseeing the EU Transition.

Letter to the First Minister on UN Global Biodiversity Outlook

Publication date:

September, 2020

On Tuesday 15th September, the UN's launch of Global Biodiversity Outlook - or the 2020 'report card' of global biodiversity targets - found that none of the UK nations had improved on their biodiversity. Environment Links UK (the four Sister Links of Wales, England, Scotland & Northern Ireland) wrote to all four government leaders, including First Minister Mark Drakeford in Wales, asking them to commit to adopting statutory nature targets in Wales. For more information on the Convention on Biological Diversity, check out their website.

We received a reply from the Welsh Government the following month and have uploaded their response below.
